Satechi M4 Mac mini stand and hub: Up to 4TB extra storage, SD card slot, USB ports

A Satechi M4 Mac mini stand and hub promises to let owners of the new ultra-compact desktop Mac add up to 4TB of fast SSD storage, together with an SD card slot and three USB-A ports.

The upcoming device will be similar to the model already available for the previous generation Mac mini, but don’t expect to take delivery any time soon …

The existing model costs $100, but Satechi hasn’t announced either pricing or exact availability for the new model, saying only that it will be available sometime in the spring of 2025, and you can register now for a 20% discount on whatever the price turns out to be.

Designed exclusively for the 2024 Mac Mini M4, this sleek and versatile stand enhances its next-generation design and performance by offering industry-leading storage expansion, legacy port compatibility and front-facing connectivity—all in a compact, premium aluminum build. The Mac Mini M4 Stand & Hub seamlessly integrates and upgrades any workspace, with its patented technology, Apple-inspired aesthetic, and advanced functionality.

The spec seems very similar to the current model.

The Mac Mini M4 Stand & Hub with SSD Enclosure boasts unmatched functionality with up to 4TB NVMe storage with blazing 10Gbps transfer speeds for quick access to files and media.

Seamlessly compatible with legacy and modern devices, it reintroduces USB-A ports for connecting favorite peripherals, while front-facing ports ensure effortless access to essentials.

Designed for performance, Satechi’s patented technology optimizes airflow, preserves wireless signal strength and enhances reliability. The premium aluminum design, combined with heat-dissipating vents, ensures peak performance while maintaining the sleek, minimalist aesthetic Satechi’s products are known for.

While going all-in on legacy USB-A ports might seem an odd choice for a 2025 product, the Mac mini itself does offer two front-facing USB-C ones.

Two of the ports are USB 3.2, supporting 10Gbps, while the third is a plain old USB 2.0 port offering a far more sedate 480Mbps.

Satechi says the SSD slots support most current SSD card sizes:

  • 2230
  • 2242
  • 2260
  • 2280

The slots support transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps.

If you’d like to be one of the first to get your hands on one, you can sign up to the company’s email list to be notified once it’s available to order, and to receive a code for 20% off.
